A home interior lives or dies on two decisions taken long before a single tile is chosen: how the plan is organised, and where the storage goes. We start there. ilika Interiors is a Pune-based interior design studio working on apartments, row houses and villas across the city and the wider Pune Metropolitan Region.
Every residential project begins with a measured survey and an honest conversation about how the household actually uses space — not how a catalogue says it should. The result is a design that still works in year five, when the children have grown and the guest room has become a study.

What residential interior design covers in our studio
We treat a home as a set of systems that have to agree with each other: circulation, storage, services, lighting and finish. If the sofa arrives before the electrical layout, the room will be full of extensions and floor lamps for a decade.
Our residential scope runs from concept and space planning through detailed working drawings, material and finish schedules, on-site coordination and handover. You can take the full turnkey package or commission the drawings and execute with your own contractor.
Layout first, finishes later
Most Pune flats are handed over with walls that are structurally locked and services that are already run. That constraint is where good residential design earns its fee. We test three to five planning options against your daily routine: where shoes land when you enter, where school bags go, whether the kitchen work triangle survives a fridge upgrade.
We only move to finishes once the plan is signed off. Choosing laminates before resolving the plan is the single most expensive ordering mistake we see on renovation projects.
Built for Pune's climate and Pune's dust
Material choices in Pune have to survive a hot, dry summer, a heavy monsoon and construction dust from a neighbouring site. We specify accordingly: sealed engineered wood rather than raw veneer in low-ventilation rooms, moisture-resistant cores in kitchen and utility zones, and finishes that can be wiped rather than repainted.
West- and south-facing walls get shading and light-control strategies as part of the interior package, because a badly shaded window makes a beautiful room unusable between two and five in the afternoon.
Who we work with
We work directly with homeowners, and alongside architects and structural engineers on larger projects. If you are buying a resale flat or planning a renovation, we survey the existing services before proposing anything — old wiring and undersized plumbing are common in Pune's older housing societies and they change the budget materially.

Common questions
- How much does residential interior design cost in Pune?
- Design fees are usually quoted per square foot of carpet area or as a percentage of project value. As an indicative range, full turnkey home interiors in Pune typically land between ₹1,400 and ₹3,200 per square foot depending on carpentry volume, stone, hardware and appliance scope. We issue a room-by-room estimate after the survey, so the number you see is tied to a drawing.
- How long does a home interior project take?
- A 2BHK or 3BHK apartment typically takes 8 to 14 weeks from design sign-off to handover, with joinery manufacturing accounting for most of it. Villas and heavy renovation run longer, mainly because of site work and material lead times. We publish a week-by-week schedule before execution starts.
- Can you work with my existing furniture and a fixed budget?
- Yes, and we would rather know both early. We plan around pieces worth keeping, price the rest, and tell you plainly where the budget is short instead of quietly downgrading hardware and plywood to hit a headline number.
