Long Garden — Villa Interior, NIBM Road
A long north-south plot with a garden the family had spent a decade building. The interior design was mostly a question of where to put the glazing and where to leave the wall alone.

The garden was the reason they bought the plot, and the interiors had to make it visible from as many rooms as possible without turning the house into a greenhouse in the Pune summer.
What we changed
- Oriented the main living and dining spaces to the garden and concentrated glazing on the shaded north face.
- Designed deep shaded terraces on the west side to block late-afternoon sun before it reaches the glass.
- Kept the family kitchen open to the dining area with a separate utility behind for the heavy work.
Outcome
The garden is visible from five rooms, and the west terraces keep the house usable through the summer.
