The clients had six weeks of overlap between their old lease and the new flat, which set an immovable handover date. They also wanted nothing precious — no material that would be ruined by a child with a marker.
What we changed
- Fixed the handover date first and worked the programme backwards, which meant freezing material choices within two weeks.
- Specified scrubbable paint, matte laminates and vitrified flooring throughout — nothing that needs specialist cleaning.
- Designed the children's room with a study desk and a low storage unit that a child can reach.
Outcome
Handed over on the fixed date, with the snag list closed before the family moved in.
