Bathroom interior design in Pune
Bathrooms are the room where a cheap decision becomes an expensive problem — usually waterproofing, and usually discovered by the neighbour below.

We plan drainage, slope and ventilation before we choose a single tile.
Waterproofing first
The waterproofing membrane, the slope to the drain and the ponding test come before any finish. On renovation projects in older Pune buildings we assume the existing waterproofing is at end of life until a test proves otherwise.
Drainage and slope
A floor slope of 1:80 to 1:100 towards the drain, a linear drain where the geometry is tight, and a threshold detail that stops water reaching the door. Poor slope is the most common cause of standing water.
Ventilation
An exhaust fan sized to the room volume, or a window that actually opens. A bathroom without mechanical extraction in Pune's humidity grows mould on the ceiling within a season.

Bathroom — common questions
- How long does a bathroom renovation take?
- Three to four weeks including demolition, waterproofing cure time and tiling. The waterproofing cure cannot be rushed, and shortening it is the most common cause of later leakage.
- Should I use a concealed cistern?
- It looks better and saves floor space, but it needs a properly detailed access panel. Without one, a simple flush valve repair becomes a wall opening.
