Interior Design Timeline in Pune: A Pune Owner's Guide

Interior design timeline in Pune — a week-by-week programme for an apartment, the decision dates that cause delay, and how long a villa takes.

Updated 8 October 2026

Figures are indicative 2026 ranges from our own Pune project pricing. They are not a quotation — a real number is tied to a drawing and a material list.

Most interior projects in Pune run late, and almost never because of the design. They run late because of material approvals, society work-hour rules and lead times that nobody put on a programme.

This is a realistic timeline for a Pune apartment, week by week.

Week 1 to 3: survey and design

Measured survey, plan options and concept. Decisions needed from you: layout sign-off and a budget band. If the flat is a renovation, the services survey happens here and can change the scope.

Week 3 to 5: drawings and material selection

Working drawings, elevations and the material schedule. Decisions needed: laminates, stone, hardware and appliance specifications. This is the phase where delays originate — a laminate chosen three weeks late delays the project by the lead time plus the rescheduling of every trade behind it.

Week 6 to 11: manufacture and site work

Civil changes, electrical and plumbing first fix, false ceiling, then joinery manufacture off site. Site installation follows. Society work-hour restrictions typically stretch this phase by one to two weeks in Pune.

Week 11 to 13: installation, finishing and snag closure

Joinery installation, stone counters, painting, fittings and the snag list. Budget one to two weeks for snag closure, and do not schedule the move-in date on the day of handover.

  • Apartment (2BHK/3BHK): 10–14 weeks
  • Villa or bungalow: 20–30 weeks
  • Kitchen and wardrobes only: 6–8 weeks
  • Renovation with services replacement: add 3–5 weeks

Common questions

Why do interior projects in Pune run late?
Usually material approvals, not labour. Every finish has a cut-off date; missing it costs the lead time plus the rescheduling of the trades behind it. Society work-hour rules and lift access add a further one to two weeks.
Can an interior project be done in six weeks?
Only with a restricted scope — kitchen, wardrobes, lighting and painting, with no civil work and standard materials. A full turnkey fit-out in six weeks is not realistic.
When should I book a designer before possession?
Two to three months before handover. Design, material selection and joinery manufacturing can all run on the developer's drawings, and re-measuring on possession day typically saves four to six weeks.
