A first home bought with most of the budget already spent on the flat. The design had to prioritise honestly: where money changes daily life, and where it only changes a photograph.

A fixed budget, a 980 square foot 2BHK, and two people who had never commissioned design work before. The clients wanted to know what to spend on first.
What we changed
- Put the budget into the kitchen and wardrobes first — the two items used several times a day — and kept the living room joinery to a single storage bench.
- Chose laminate over acrylic in the kitchen and put the saving into better hinges and drawer channels.
- Used a perimeter-only ceiling drop instead of a full false ceiling to preserve height in a compact flat.
Outcome
Came in under budget by dropping the second television point and the accent wall — both of which the clients later said they did not miss.
